Message to Parents

Dear Parents,

Welcome to 4C. I am gald we started off well this year. After going through a year at Endeavour, I'm proud to announce that all most all our children have settled in well. This year I would like to see my kids taking up more responsibility both in school work and learn to be independent learners. Not that they have not been earlier. Its just that, I want them to do things on their own with minimal supervision. It was my pleasure to have worked with all of you last year and I look forward to work with all of you this year. At this juncture, I would like to thank all parents who contributed in decorating my 4C classroom this year. Thank you.

I would like you to view our blog at least once every 3 weeks to 4 weeks to check out what's new on the menu. I will be posting important notices and updates about what's on in school. I hope to use this as a platform to post reminders and general concerns that I share with the children. Please feel free to reply to posts that are put up for you. Thank you.

For a start, I would like to seek your co-operation in the following matters:

(1) Punctuality & Attire - it is important that our children take the pledge and sing the National Anthem in the morning as a school. I have noticed that some of our 4C children have been arriving more than thrice after National anthem or even during the Anthem. Please help to monitor this on regular basis.

The school handbook gives a breif overview of appropriate attire to school. Please try and adhere to it. Highlighting of hair is NOT allowed in school. I need to mention this as I came across one case in our class. Please keep your child's nails short and clean. Also for the boys, have their hair cut at least once every month and do not let them keep a long fringe in front of their forehead. Thank you.

(2) Homework - all subjects have equal weightage in building our children's capacity. Therefore, it is important to monitor their Art, SS and HE homework as well. Also, please ensure your child hands up work regularly. This would make it easier for both you, me and other teachers to monitor your child's progress.

Mother Tongue may be quite difficult to handle for some of our kids as they come from non-chinese speaking backgrounds. Please seek some help outside school if you can to help your child in his/her work this year.

(3)Handbook - I do have some of you calling and SMSing me to check out the homework with me at times. I appreciate it. However, I need you to know that it is important for you to check your child's handbook everyday to check what is his/her work for the day. My practice is to get them to write it in there everyday and I ensure that I initial beside it after they have done so. Just like last year.

(4) Absent - If your child is absent for some reason, please provide me with a MC or valid letter the following day your child returns to school. I appreciate if you can do it asap. Thank you.

(5) Remedial - Last year, I know some of you requested for your child to be put in remedial lessons on Monday. I have done my best to accomodate them in the remedial lessons based on their results. If there is someone I missed out,my apology. Please do approach me again. Thank you.

However, I must reinforce that remedial alone may not be sufficient to help your child this year. We need to work together to guide them seperately as much as possible.

The above are some of the major concerns that I have for now. I will put up more if there are any in this blog as and when necessary. Hope I have given you a brief overview of things. Once again its my pleasure to work with all of you one more time. So please approach me if you need help. Thank you.

Regards,

Mdm Pavithra.
